The Central York Boys Soccer season is quickly approaching. Central students and fans are excited to watch the guys take the field, but what is to be expected from the boys this season?

On Tuesday, Aug. 31, the team took on Central Dauphin East at home for the scrimmage. The team played outstandingly, scoring five goals and holding Central Dauphin East to zero.

“The team played really well. We played good defense and used tactics we learned in practice and applied them to our game. I was overall proud of the team,” said Mani Hatzinikolas, a junior right forward.

Boys soccer has had pre-season practices nearly every day since August, so they are working very hard to be prepared for this season. The team captains, seniors, Carson Martin, Ethan Firth, and Connor Wivagg, along with junior Nate Kimball all work hard to be the leaders of the team and to push everyone to their full potential.

“I believe our team has been playing well recently, and we are looking solid. As a team we’ve been putting in the work with tactical things and making sure we are staying fit to play,” says Nate Kimball, a junior midfielder.

Central’s first official game is Tuesday, Sep. 7, where they take on Dover at home. Coming into the game, Central is in good shape to win with their elite offensive scoring ability and their lockdown defense.

“I feel great about the season and we have so much potential. We are playing better than we ever have,” Gabe Thomas, a junior goalkeeper stated.

Central York’s soccer programs are very strong, and fans and students are very excited to see how the guys do this upcoming season. With the hard work that the athletes are putting on and field, it should be a very solid year.
