Bean explained the best piece of advice he has received was to “always battle back” and move forward in every match.

Leading the team for the 2022 season is senior Evan Bean who has played tennis for all four years of high school. His experience has qualified him to be the team captain and he leads the team in warm-ups and drills during practices. He decided to join the sport “for fun” and because he did not have a sport to play in the spring.

Bean is responsible for keeping the team focused and providing assistance to any players. Because of his advanced experience in the sport he is able to handle some responsibilities for coaches and provide advice for new athletes.

“My goals are to help everyone get better…have a good time and keep everyone focused,” he said.

Being captain means becoming familiar with everyone on the team and Bean explains this is one of his favorite parts of the role. He can personally know the people he plays with to best communicate with everyone. From this he’s motivated by his team as well as his coaches and parents.

The 2021 season did not go as well for the team as predicted; however, Bean’s greatest achievement in his years of playing was making counties last year. He hopes to perform as well this spring and has high ambitions this season.

“Always stay focused…try to win your next point and try to ignore your last point,” Bean said.

And while this is his last season of tennis, he plans to attend Ole Miss University to study finance.
