Dame drug tested after dropping 71
The seven time All-Star Damian Lillard scored 41 first-half points, this is the third most points scored in a half.
Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers point guard made history scoring 71 points in their win against the Houston Rockets Feb. 26, 2023. Following the game Lillard was immediately required to take a drug test.
“I was like, are y’all serious?… I did the urine test yesterday, and then they backed it up with the blood-drawn tonight after the game. That’s actually my first time in my career being tested after a game,” said Lillard.
Lillard made plenty of history in this game, tying the season high for points scored with Donovan Mitchell. On the other hand Mitchell needed overtime to achieve this feat, Lillards scoring 71 points in 39 minutes set an NBA record. This has been the most points scored since Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in 2006. Lillard also made 13 three-pointers which is second most made in a game behind Klay Thompson’s 14. This marks Lillards fifth 60 point game, making him one of six players ever to score 60 more than once, and was the eighth player to ever score 70 points in a single game.
